January 2016 Scrappy Block

You might all remember that I am the Coordinator for QOV in Colorado. The group I stitch with (ok,  ME!!) really wants to use up our scraps and get more quilts made. So Each month I will introduce a scrappy block.  If you want to join in with us and stitch away - I would love it!

If you only want to make a few blocks and join in with us - we welcome that too!!

here is January's Block:

January 2016  QOV Scrappy Block
Pull out your 2 ½ inch Strip Scraps – and let’s Dig in!

For this Block you will need 6 – 2 ½ x 6 ½ inch strips and 3 – 2 ½ x 12 ½ inch strips

Stitch the 2 ½ x 6 ½ inch strips into 2 sets of 3. Stitch the 2 ½ x 12 ½ inch strips into 1 set of 3

The two layouts are below – Choose which one you like. Stitch your 6 ½ inch units together – then stitch to the 12 ½ inch units!  And you have a 12 ½ inch x 12 ½ inch block~!

Layout 1 ^

Layout 2 v

And here is a link to a finished Quilt using this block:

Enjoy!!

So I have a couple of questions. Are you collecting these blocks to make into QOV quilts? If so I would love to join in. Also do you have certain colors in mind. Do you like to stick to red/white/blue/gold?

Great idea! We should talk and maybe organize an Oh Scrap! feature :)
